We have caught 90 stoats!

The stoat eradication team were excited to hit the 90 stoat milestone!

Elaine Murphy, DOC Principal Scientist, thinks it is likely that the increase in kaka numbers seen across the island recently can be attributed to the removal of so many stoats.

Large numbers of kaka were first reported in Onetangi several years ago, where the Waiheke Collective Stoat Project have been controlling stoats since 2017.
