Introducing The New Community Liaison Team!

We are excited to introduce to you the Community Liaison team!

Nicola, Giselle, and Rob will be known to many, and are excited to have the opportunity through the Jobs for Nature funding to combine their passions for conservation and the community. Their role will be gaining permissions from households and businesses in the rat eradication pilot to host rat eradication tools for the pilot project.

Rob McAuliffe

Before Covid-19 impacted the tourism industry on Waiheke, Rob worked as a tour bus operator for Enjoi NZ and since then has been driving taxis for Waiheke 5-0. Rob has been passionate about moving into a career in conservation for a long time.

Giselle Shaw

A true Waiheke local, Giselle has lived on the island since 1995. She has worked for the past 20 years in early childhood education at Fossil Bay Kindergarten. Giselle is involved in community organisations like the Waiheke Badminton club and the Waiheke Special Needs group.

Nicola Bowman

Nicola has worked as a pest and weed control contractor on the island for the past five years and has been involved in many community and volunteer organisations including Waiheke Ratbusters, Waiheke Playcentre, and the Waiheke United Football club.
