Community rat eradication pilot workshops
Three rat eradication pilot workshops were held in Oneroa between March 5th – 7th facilitated by Biz Bell from Wildlife Management International. Biz is a seabird and island restoration specialist and shared her experience doing rat eradications in New Zealand and around the world.
Attendees were asked to provide feedback on the following four questions:
1. What do you think are the risks/challenges of doing a rat eradication pilot on Waiheke?
2. Which stakeholders and/or interest groups do you think need to be involved?
3. What are your biggest learnings from your community project and/or experience?
4. How do you see yourself being involved? How do you think your neighbour might like to be involved?
