Event: Predator Free Wellington coming to Waiheke Island
We're so excited to have James and Emma from Predator Free Wellington coming to Waiheke to share their key learnings from the Miramar Peninsula rat and mustelid eradication! Everyone is welcome to join at The Waiheke Resources Trust Wednesday, November 11 from 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm.
Miramar Peninsula in Wellington is 800 hectares in size with 20,000 residents and rats have been reduced from tens of thousands to in the tens! Mustelids have also been eradicated. Predator Free Wellington is the only Predator Free project in New Zealand working on eradicating rats in an urban environment.
While Waiheke Island is 9,324 hectares in size, we only have approximately 9,063 residents. James and Emma's knowledge will be invaluable leading up to the rat eradication pilot on the island.
There will also be a question and answer session at the end. Make sure you come along!
