Welcoming our new Field Technicians for the rat eradication pilot!
We are excited to introduce our two new Field Technicians for the Te Korowai o Waiheke rat eradication pilot!
Charlie is passionate about conservation and the protection of the natural world. He spent nine months volunteering on Kure Atoll (Northwestern Hawaiian Archipelago) – an extremely isolated place – working on habitat restoration, marine debris collection, seal, and seabird monitoring. Charlie has done weeding, planting, and worked as a deckhand for Sea Cleaners. He was also selected as a True Young Explorer by Heritage Expeditions and received a scholarship to travel with them to the Subantarctic islands for a week.
Dylan is a master stonemason with a background in construction and landscaping. He is moving to Waiheke after living on Rakino Island for 10 years! He has also worked as a skipper and guide, more recently for Auckland Sea Shuttles. Dylan has done his fair share of trapping, including possums, rats, and rabbits. His interest in conservation drove him to assist Auckland Council with a rainbow skin incursion on Rakino Island.
Welcome Charlie and Dylan!
